Opportunity for Recent Graduate or Experienced IT Support Technician

Location: Winchester

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000/annum

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated IT Support professional to provide technical assistance and support to our client’s organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining network infrastructure, and ensuring optimal operation of IT systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise or develop your technical expertise in a dynamic environment, supporting end-users across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to user requests for technical assistance via help desk tickets or direct communication.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to computer hardware, software, operating systems and peripherals.
  • Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, backups, and security patches.
  • Document incidents and resolutions accurately
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to improve system performance and implement new solutions.
  • Provide user training or guidance on software applications like Microsoft Office and other organisational tools.
  • Monitor network security measures to prevent unauthorised access or data breaches.
  • Contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • A genuine enthusiasm for a career in IT support roles, including desktop support and help desk functions.
  • Good knowledge or interest in computer networking concepts such as LAN, VPNs, firewalls, and operating systems
  • A keen interest in troubleshooting software issues across various platforms and applications.
  • Familiarity with basic hardware components including computer peripherals and hardware repair basics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude with a focus on resolving user issues efficiently.
  • willing to learn security protocols and best practices in an organisational environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified are advantageous but not essential.
