Temporary Vehicle Fitter / Fleet Technician

Location – Fareham

Salary – £18.59/hour

37 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Fitter / Fleet Technician on an ongoing temporary basis for a local organsiation in their transport repair unit team to undertake vehicle maintenance and repairs for their vehicle fleet.

You will need experience of working on HGVs and hold an HGV Level 3 NVQ for repairs.

Responsibilities

• Safety inspections on Large and Light Vehicles
• Safety inspection on all types of plant and equipment.
• Servicing, diagnosing, repairs and defects on all types of vehicles and council owned equipment.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and meeting UK road safety legislation requirements.
• Undertaking specialist diagnostics with use of a scanner for maintenance, and repair works of plant/vehicles in the following specialist areas:

o Electrical faults

o Hydraulics

o Computerised container hoists & Refuse Body

o Automatic gear boxes

· Plant Equipment

• Completing and checking written documentation and using the Fleet Management Software for Road Transport Compliance.

Requirements

• Level 3 HGV Repair qualification
• Experience of preparing light vehicles and HGV for MOT testing
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry
• Experience of carrying out servicing to manufacturers specifications
• A full understanding of the use of an automotive scanner for servicing and diagnosing.
• Qualifications and experience in the diagnosis of electrical components
• Knowledge and experience of vehicle and plant maintenance
• The ability to use a tablet for servicing, repairs, and defects on the Fleet Management system.
• A willingness to work unsocial and additional hours, Public and Statutory holidays and in all weather conditions.
• Good customer care and teamwork skills
• The ability to work using your own initiative and with minimal supervision.
• HGV Licence (desirable)

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday 05:45-13:45 or 08:00-16:00

Friday 05:45-13:15 or 08:00-15:30
