Project Engineer
An opportunity to join a well established and growing manufacturer working globally within a very niche technical market.
The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, delivering and reporting on both service and installation work across client sites both in the UK and overseas. The role includes hands-on engineering, client liaison, project scheduling, logistics co-ordination, and on-site leadership, with responsibilities extending across the full project lifecycle: from pre-delivery planning through to post-site reporting and handover.
A large number of projects are based in the USA and so there is a requirement for frequent travel to the USA as a part of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Prospect Support
- Support Business Development with technical inputs at the proposal stage, including power calculations, equipment layouts, and delivery considerations.
- Review project specifications received from the Business Development team and work with the Production Manager to develop a full project delivery plan
- Determine and finalise project costs, timelines, and supplier requirements: liaise with suppliers directly as required
- Create and manage day-by-day project schedules
- Co ordinate logistical planning for shipping and packing, working closely with Production.
Client and Site Coordination
- liaise directly with clients to confirm project dates, site access, schedules, and required permitting
- Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements(RAMS), packing lists, and site preparation documents ahead of mobilisation.
On Site Delivery
- Lead on-site deployment and servicing, ensuring adherence to RAMS, project plans, and technical specifications.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders during site work
- Respond to technical challenges and triage issues as they arise, implementing solutions in real-time
- Maintain oversight of schedule progress and deliver the agreed scope effectively and professionally
Post Site Closeout
- Upon return to the office, complete service reports and update issue registers to capture on-site findings
- Handover any refurbishment requirements to the Production Manager for follow up
- Ensure knowledge gained on-site is fed back into project and product development processes.
The ideal candidate will have a background in technical manufacturing and installation, and an understanding of electrical engineering would be advantageous. You will also be comfortable with the requirement for regular overseas travel.
